Minneapolis weary of new parking ordinance

Kare 11 reported on Sunday that Minneapolis is already tired of the new parking ordinance.  The City of Minneapolis put into effect last week that there would no parking allowed on the even numbered side of the street on non-snow emergency routes making parking in front of residents own homes difficult or even impossible, if they do not have a driveway on their homes property.

Minneapolis put these new rules into effect because of the large amount of snow seen on the streets.  The snow has caused the streets to be more narrow that normal and is a safety measure for emergency response vehicles.  The city plans to ticket and even tow cars that violet the rules in the next coming months.

Businesses are also unhappy happy about this decision because of the loss of possible business.  Parking near restaurants in the big city now will be more difficult to those traveling from surrounding cities.

The rule will remain instated until April 1 or when the snow levels subside.
