On Tuesday March 23, the Stillwater Lift Bridge will close at 10 a.m. because of flooding on the St. Croix river, according to the Star Tribune. It is unclear how long the bridge will stay closed for.
The bridge is one of the main connectors between Wisconsin and Minnesota especially many commuters traveling to the Twin Cities. While the bridge is close commuters will have to travel further south to Interstate 94 or north to Highway 243 to cross the river.
The river is expected to crest by Friday this week at a level of 87 feet. The bridge may become inoperative after 88 feet. There has been a temporary levee built in Stillwater to protect its downtown.
